“No.8 Street" salon---an interactive reading of Mr. Cao Wenxuan and the German little readers was successfully completed on October 10.
With the cooperation of Hanban, Confucius Institute Headquarters and Phoenix Publishing Media Group, organized by the Confucius Institute in Munichand the International Youth Library of Munich, “the eighth Street Light" salon---aninteractive reading of Mr. Cao Wenxuan and the German little readers was completed on October 10.
Mr.Cao is a professor of Chinese dep. Peking University, first winner of the Andersen Literature Prize in China, and one of the most outstanding writers of contemporary Chinese children's literature. "the eighth street light",which is showed this time, won the 2012 Laurel Tong book award,and has been translated into a variety of foreign languages.
Mr. Cao and Jiangsu Phoenix Children's Association, Wang Yongbo and others arrived in Munich on October 9.They visited the Confucius Institute and have an informal discussion.At 10 o'clock on the morning of October 10, an interactive reading hosted by Ms. Obi, head of the library's East AsiaPavilion, kicked off at the International Youth Library Activity Hall.Ms.Raabe, the curator of the library and the organizer, with representatives of Jiangsu Children's Publishing House and Munich Confucius Institute, and nearly two hundred German little readers of the local primary school in Munichattended this salon.The salon used the interactive mode of "little readers’German reading - Mr. Cao’s Chinese reading" and "primary school students’ stage performances" ,which was well received by little readers.After the salon, Mr. Cao and WangYongbo president gave the Chinese version of "No. 8 street" as a gift to the primary school students of the stage performances.
After that,Mr. Cao and the presented members of the Publishing House visited the library accompanied by Ms. Obi.
Mr.Cao’s first session of the German tour was successfully concluded,and follow-up activities will be held at the Frankfurt Book Fair on October 12th, and Heidelberg City Library on October 13th.
