In order to promote communication between Chinese and foreign students and help them experience Chinese traditional culture further, the School of Chinese Language and Literature successfully held the "Chinese Corner Carnival" on the afternoon of 17th. The Chinese and foreign students went to a feast of cross-cultural exchanges together.
At the opening ceremony of the carnival, Liu Houguang, Secretary of Party General Branch of the School of Chinese Language and Literature, delivered the opening speech. Thai student Liu Wenhao sang the Chinese song "At this Moment" to warm the activity up. After that, 11 groups including paper-cut, tea art, Chinese chess and calligraphy were successfully launched inside and outside the Wenhua Hall and in front of the Confucius statue in the School of Chinese Language and Literature.
The international students who participated in the event were in a constant stream. In just over two hours, the students enjoyed the folk music, experienced the kicking shuttlecock, martial arts, Tai Chi. And knitting the Chinese knot, chess and calligraphy experience were especially popular. In the process of trying on the Chinese costume, the foreign students experienced a strong oriental charm.
The Chinese Corner Carnival has a variety of forms and rich content, which built a cross-cultural bridge for Chinese and foreign students. On the one hand, the activities made Chinese students realize the significance of insisting on cultural confidence, telling Chinese stories well, deepening the research and communication of Chinese advanced culture and Chinese excellent traditional Culture; on the other hand, it provided a good platform for international students to experience a colorful Chinese culture which enriched their extracurricular life. International students actively used Chinese in the process of cultural experience, and enjoyed the sense of achievement of communicating in Chinese.
"The BFSU Chinese Corner" is a platform for Sino-foreign exchange which has been built by the School of Chinese Language and Literature in the past three years. It conducts regular activities every Tuesday and Thursday, with 1,200 Chinese and foreign students participating in each semester. International students from surrounding universities also participate from time to time, and the brand effect has gradually formed. The purpose of the Chinese Corner is to provide a intercultural "meeting room" for Chinese and foreign students, to help them improve their Chinese proficiency and understand the original Chinese culture in real communication, to help Chinese students broaden their international horizons and enhance their intercultural communicative competence.
