The Kohsaka Program Opening Ceremony Convened on April 1, 2019
The 28th Kohsaka Program Opening Ceremony was hosted by SCLL on April 1, 2019.Japan NPO Corporate Representative, International Communication Education Backup Administrative Affairs Sub-Chief Mr. Zheng Xin-pei, the staff of the Affairs, Wang Ye-jing, the student instructor, Taiya Someya, Li Bing from Overseas Students Office, BFSU, Dean Zhang Xiao-hui from SCLL, assistant to the dean, Zhu yong, attended the ceremony, with 27 Japanese Kohsaka Program students and all of the course teacher.
In the Opening Ceremony, Mr. Zheng Xin-pei had a speech on behalf of the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Tetsuichi Takeda. He showed his sincerely grateful about the support of BFSU for nearly 30 years, and also expressed his admiration for the high-quality teaching work.
The director, Li Bing, as the represent of BFSU, expressed his warm welcome to the new student. Furthermore, he introduced the historical development and school-running characteristics of BFSU, and said that the school will do its best to create a good living environment and learning environment for the students.
In the speech, Dean Zhang Xiao-hui speaked highly of the significance of the establisment of the Kohsaka Program for Chinese colleges and the academic education of foreign students in BFSU.She also expressed thanks to those who have contributed to this project. After that, she made some specific suggestions for the students' upcoming learning life. She hopes that students will learn to manage themselves, adapt to the environment actively, take the initiative to understand China, and constantly improve their level of Chinese communication. And at the same time, they must establish the bottom line consciousness of abiding by the law and discipline. She said that the college will create a good learning environment and provide students with more opportunities to feel China and know China.

In 1990, Mr. Shunyi Xiangban, who is committed to the cause of Sino-Japanese friendly exchanges, visited Beijing Foreign Studies University under the recommendation of Mr. Liao Chengzhi. He hoped to cooperate with our school to carry out undergraduate education for Japanese students and to cultivate exchanges talents between Japanese and Chinese. Under the active promotion of both China and Japan, the International Exchange Institute, which specializes in undergraduate education for Japanese students, was officially established in 1991. In the spring of 1992, the first international student came to Beijing from Japan. In the past 30 years, this project has trained more than 600 Japanese-Chinese exchange talents who are active in many fields such as economy, education, politics and culture in Japan and China, and have become the backbone of Sino-Japanese exchanges.
