On December 3, the Chinese Language Course for Principals of Secondary Schools in Indonesia, sponsored by the ASEAN-China Centre and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in China and undertaken by the school of Chinese Language and Literature of Beijing Foreign Studies University, was successfully completed. More than 100 principals and teaching administrators from more than 80 primary and secondary schools in Indonesia participated in the three-week online Chinese language course. The trainees followed the teachers of the school of Chinese Language and Literature to explore the world of Chinese language, learn more than 10 topics of daily communication, and participate in wonderful Chinese cultural activities online. The trainees were enthusiastic about learning and actively participated in classroom interaction. They were impressed by the practical teaching topics, exquisite teaching materials and dedicated teachers.

Through this program, the Indonesian students not only enhanced their skills at communicating in Chinese, but also had a deeper understanding of Chinese culture, which helped them have a better understanding of contemporary China and Chinese educators. The program was also highly regarded by the organizers, it is an important step in the cooperation between the school of Chinese Language and Literature and the Indonesian educational community in Chinese teaching. President Professor Li Jiansheng, the Executive Dean of the school, pointed out at the graduation ceremony that they hoped to take this program as a starting point and make more in-depth cooperation with the Indonesian education institutions. He also called on the educators from China and Indonesia to join and make an effort to cultivate international talents with global vision, world feelings and cross-cultural communicative competence.
