On the afternoon of November 15, 2021, the 2021 Chinese study program for Indonesian middle school principals, CO sponsored by the ASEAN-China Center and the Indonesian Embassy in China and undertaken by Beijing Foreign Studies University, was officially opened. The opening ceremony was held in Conference Room 204 of the School of Chinese Language and Literature. H. E. djauhari oratmangun, Indonesian ambassador to China, Chen Dehai, Secretary General of China ASEAN center, Su Dapeng, deputy secretary of the Party committee of Beijing Foreign Studies University and other representatives attended the opening ceremony online and delivered a speech. He Hui, Secretary of the general Party branch, Zhu Yong, vice dean, and Wang zulei, director of the Chinese language training center also attended the ceremony.
Ambassador Zhou Haoli said that in recent years, China and Indonesia have continuously strengthened cooperation in economy, education and talent cultivation. This seminar is an important attempt for the two countries to carry out practical cooperation in the field of education. It is hoped that the principals participating in the training will further understand and perceive Chinese language and culture, strive to help Indonesian students better understand China and carry out more extensive cooperation with China. Chen Dehai pointed out that “Belt and Road Initiative” and Indonesia's "Global Maritime Pivot" strategy have greatly stimulated the cultural exchange between China and Indonesia. In recent years, learning Chinese has become a popular choice among many Indonesian youth, and Chinese has become one of the most widely used foreign languages in Indonesia.The ASEAN-China Center is willing to work with relevant parties to continuously promote practical cooperation in the field of education, make language and cultural exchanges a bridge to enhance the friendship between the two countries, and promote new progress in China Indonesia relations.
Deputy Secretary Su expressed heartfelt thanks to the Indonesian Embassy in China and the ASEAN-China Center for their trust and support in hosting the seminar by Beijing Foreign Studies University. He pointed out that 2021 marks the 80th anniversary of the founding of Beijing Foreign Studies University and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of ASEAN-China dialogue relations. It is of extraordinary significance to undertake this project. The seminar is a concrete manifestation of the good neighborly and friendly relations between the two countries, and it is also the mission of BFSU to promote educational and cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and foreign countries. It is hoped that the principals participating in the training will further experience Chinese culture, understand Chinese education and make positive contributions to enhancing bilateral exchanges and expanding bilateral cooperation.
This Chinese training project is the first time that ASEAN-China Center cooperates with our university to provide large-scale online Chinese training for Indonesian educators. 119 principals from national excellent primary and secondary schools in Indonesia will participate in 30 class hours of immersive Chinese language and culture learning. As the teaching unit of the project, the Chinese Institute has made full preparations and held talks with the counselor of the Indonesian Embassy and the project officials of the China ASEAN center to fully understand the needs of the project; It also held a preparatory meeting with the foreign Co organizer, Yogyakarta National University, Indonesia, to actively negotiate, customize the teaching scheme for the project, carefully design various matters of online teaching, and strive to provide perfect learning experience for the project students. The smooth implementation of the project will effectively promote the exchange and cooperation between the college and Indonesian educational institutions and enhance the influence of Beijing Foreign Studies University Chinese teaching in Southeast Asia.
