On the morning of November 21st, the 17th Postgraduate Academic Forum was held in the main building of the College of Chinese Language and Literature. More than 250 postgraduate students and more than 30 postgraduate supervisors attended the annual academic event.
Zhang Xiaohui, dean of the College of Chinese Language and Literature, delivered the opening speech, deeply interpreting General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on postgraduate education. Gao Yuhua, deputy dean of the College of Chinese Language and Literature, emphasized the quality and standard requirements of dissertation writing in combination with the reform of postgraduate education and teaching.
The forum had 11 branch venues with the concept of "Accumulate knowledge to store treasure, explore the truth to enrich talents, experience carefully to acquire the knowledge, and follow the composition idea to seek appropriate and beautiful words."(The Literary Mind and the Carving of Dragons · Shensi) , attracting many students to attend. The Literature and Culture Group discussed the ancient and modern works. The Language Group together with Language Teaching Group made rational speculation towards language. The Group of TCSOL studied assiduously, and the Group of Doctor delved into facts of their research subjects.
With 80 postgraduate students reading their papers, the presentation then followed by peer review and discussion, ended with teachers’ comments. Every panel evaluated the students’ papers carefully. Meanwhile, the teachers offered many sharp suggestions. Fang Zhisong, deputy dean of the College of Chinese Language and Literature, made a concluding speech. She encouraged the students to study hard and gain spiritual satisfaction in academic exchanges. The Postgraduate Forum then brought to a successful ending, with all the students looking forward to a better future of the College of Chinese Language and Culture.
In order to activate the academic atmosphere, enhance the awareness of academic innovation and the quality of dissertation writing, the College of Chinese and Literature has been holding Postgraduate Academic Forum every autumn semester since 2004, which has a positive and extensive influence on setting up a platform for postgraduate students to share and exchange knowledge.
