The Seminar on curriculum setting of the "Silk Road" Project for training compound native Chinese translators who speak non-general languages was Successfully Held in Our School

On November 25th in 2020, the Seminar on curriculum setting of  the "Silk Road" Project for training compound native Chinese translators who speak non-general languages was successfully held in the conference room 204 in the building of Chinese Language and Literature. Dean Su Yingying and Vice Dean Wang Bo from the School of Asian and African Studies, Executive Dean Zhang Xiaohui and Vice Dean Zhu Yong of the School of Chinese Language and Literature, Mr. Meng Dehong, Mrs. Wan Yubo, Mrs. Yang Yuling, Mrs. Zhang Yunting and other teachers from Department of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSOL) attended the meeting.


The meeting was chaired by Meng Dehong, the director of the Department of TCSOL. Zhang Yunting, the assistant director of the Department of TCSOL, first introduced the admission status, learning status and Chinese proficiency of students in the last two successive years of this project. Afterwards, Dean Zhang Xiaohui explained the background, significance and development of the construction of this project, while Vice Dean Zhu Yong mainly elucidated the idea and concept of the curriculum setting of this project. The two deans said that taking this project as an opportunity could strengthen the communication and cooperation with other universities and departments to obtain more support. After that, Dean Su Yingying gave a systematic introduction of the undergraduate enrollment, faculty and curriculum of the School of Asian and African Studies. Meanwhile, Vice Dean Wang Bo put forward opinions on the specific cooperation between the School of Asian and African Studies and the School of Chinese Language and Literature in details. Subsequently, the leadership of both colleges have discussed deeply on the specific way of cooperation and training mode.


In terms of discipline construction and talent training, the success of the seminar has deepened the communication between the School of Asian and African Studies and the School of Chinese Language and Literature. It also promotes the collaborative development and the integration of teaching resources between our school and other schools. The seminar not only improves our project construction but also gives a good try for training foreign students for BFSU. Meanwhile it will contribute to the national strategy of the “Belt and Road”.


 "Silk Road", the training project to cultivate compound native Chinese translators who speak non-general language is an important step to actively participate in the national strategy of "Belt And Road". This project aims to recruit students from countries along the "Belt and Road", and is committed to cultivating high-level Chinese talents for these countries, so as to promote mutual understanding and friendly exchanges between China and countries along the "Belt and Road" , which will lay a solid foundation for talents in-depth cooperation in various fields between countries in the future.
