Academic Salon Held by the Institute of linguistics and applied linguistics of School of Chinese Language And Literature

Time:2021-11-11

According to the academic activity arrangement of the Institute of linguistics and applied linguistics, the first Academic Salon of this semester was held in classroom 219 of the School of Chinese Language And Literature on the afternoon of October 21, 2021. In this academic exchange, Ma Yunhe and Hou Jiandong, doctoral students, made a report on the phased achievements of their respective research. At the salon, teachers such as Dai Manchun, Xiong Wenxin, Lv Dianwen and Bai Xue commented on the research report, and dozens of teachers and students participated in the whole activity online.

Ma Yunhe made a report around the "Research on the acquisition of Chinese topic sentences", expounded the concepts of subject, topic and external argument, demonstrated the independent syntactic status of Chinese subject, and classified Chinese topic sentences from the perspective of interface characteristics. The reporter divided the topic sentence acquisition research into three categories: Taking the topic sentence type as the variable, taking the mother tongue background as the variable and focusing on the topic highlight, and pointed out that in the follow-up research, the differences in acquisition difficulty can be explored based on the interface characteristics of the topic sentence.

Hou Jiandong took the feature reorganization hypothesis as the research framework to analyze the acquisition of "Jiujing... wh" structure by Chinese second language learners. It is found that the features of the structure can be successfully reorganized, but the difficulty of feature reorganization at different interfaces is different, and the difficulty of feature reorganization within each interface is also different. In addition, the study also found that the correspondence between mother tongue and target language features and the number of feature reorganization also affect the difficulty of feature reorganization.
