On December 5, the first session of the international young scholars on Chinese education was held in Beijing foreign studies university, it’s theme is" for the subject, for tomorrow ".The session was mainly held by School of Chinese Language and Literature of BFSU, co-sponsored by FLTRP, held by means of online and offline. We invited young scholars from Beijing university, east China normal university, Beijing language and culture university, sun yat-sen university and other colleges and universities to participate this session. Professor Cui Xiliang, former president of Beijing Language and Culture University, and Professor Dai Manchun, director of Institute of Linguistics and Applied Linguistics of BFSU, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony, which was presided over by Zhang Xiaohui, former Executive Dean of BFSU.
Cui Xiliang gave full affirmation on academic inheritance significance of young scholars for this session, he pointed out that great changes have taken place in the current international situation, combined with the new outbreaks, puts forward new challenges to the development of international Chinese education, we should focus on basic research and basic construction, looking for invariance in change , to put forward the subject development. Dai manchun said that the development of international Chinese education has made encouraging achievements, but due to the impact of COVID-19, Most Chinese class has been transferred to online, and there are many problems such as how to effectively interact during online teaching. He expressed his wish on strengthening the research on relevant parts and further promote the development of international Chinese education.
Eight young and middle-aged scholars from Beijing Foreign Studies University, Peking University, East China Normal University, Beijing Language and Culture University, Renmin University of China, Sun Yat-sen University and Minzu University of China participated in the forum report. The delegates from teacher development, grammar teaching and second language acquisition, academic innovation, such as macro and micro perspective, around teachers metaphor, IB courses in Chinese, "based on the use of Chinese as a foreign language grammar interpretation", the relationship between oral identity construction and development, contextual variables with concomitant vocabulary learning, and cognitive motivation, teaching research, and other cutting-edge issues to discuss. Professor Zhu Yong, vice dean of School of Chinese And Professor Xiong Wenxin of School of Chinese made a summary of the forum.
At the closing ceremony of the forum, Professor Li Jiansheng, executive Dean of school of Chinese Studies, introduced the history, current situation and future of international Chinese education in BFSU. He believed that the successful holding of the Forum was a good beginning and would become a high-end academic platform for young scholars in the future.
The forum attracted extensive attention from academic experts and young scholars, and the peak number of online users reached nearly 600. Zhou Xiaobing, Wu Yongyi, Zhu Xiaomei, Yang Defeng, Liu Songhao and other well-known professors sent messages to the forum before the conference, giving warm encouragement and ardent expectations. The "International Forum for Young Scholars in Chinese Education" aims to build an academic platform for young scholars to communicate fully, and guide them to broaden their academic horizons through thinking and communication, so as to produce more and better research achievements and make greater contributions to the development of international Chinese education.
