Time:2023-02-28

In order to do a good job in preparing for the teaching of undergraduate students after their return to school and ensure the steady and orderly implementation of relevant teaching plans, the Department of Chinese as a second Language held a meeting on November 9th. The meeting was presided over by Zhang Yunting, assistant director of the deparment.

At the beginning of the meeting, Ms. Zhang explained the background and details of the plan of combining online and offline teaching, as well as the classroom arrangement and course adjustment after the resumption of offline teaching. Afterwards, Cheng Miao, director of the International Student Studio, introduced the basic situation of the work of returning students in batches, explained the quarantine and monitoring policies of students after returning to school, and thanked the teachers for their support of the work related to students' returning to school. In order to facilitate teachers to get familiar with the use of multimedia equipment in the classroom in advance, Song Wei, the teaching equipment administrator, gave an online demonstration on the use of voice equipment in the classroom, especially the effective connection between online and offline.

Bai Liang, vice president of the College of Chinese Studies, emphasized that after returning to campus, the first thing for overseas undergraduate students is to guide teachers and students to wear masks scientifically, pay attention to the psychological condition of teachers and students, and strengthen mental health education and counseling. Secondly, we should arrange the returning education scientifically, help students adapt to offline learning and daily life as soon as possible, and understand the school management, training programs and other relevant systems as soon as possible. Thirdly, we should smoothly connect teaching, optimize and adjust semester teaching arrangements, and continue to combine online and offline teaching. Fourthly, we should take advantage of the opportunities of offline teaching and after-school communication to give targeted guidance to international students. Fifth, a biweekly "learning situation feedback" mechanism should be established, so that the college can timely know and solve the problem. Sixth, we should strengthen offline and online teaching quality monitoring.

Finally, all the participating teachers held a heated discussion on the implementation time of online and offline combination of teaching programs, classroom arrangement, equipment testing time, exam design, invigilation form, and teaching emergency treatment, and teachers offered their suggestions. Yang Xu, director of the Chinese Department for Foreign Studies, answered the questions raised by the teachers.

The off-campus teaching for undergraduate students of the Chinese College will begin on November 15th. The teachers are fully prepared to welcome the overseas students back to school with full enthusiasm, high sense of responsibility and rich teaching content. At the same time, the college always insists on putting the health of teachers and students in the first place, and regards the smooth and orderly completion of semester teaching tasks as the focus of work. It not only makes it clear that it should effectively do a good job in connecting online and offline teaching, adjusting and optimizing the teaching platform, teaching content, teaching methods and evaluation methods, but also continuously improves the efficiency and effect of teachers' teaching and students' learning.
