The Ministry of Education Humanities and Social Sciences Outstanding Achievements Award. Two achievements of the Chinese Language School were awarded.

On the morning of March 2nd, The Ministry of Education (MOE) held the 8th Awarding Ceremony for Outstanding Scientific Research Achievements in Universities (Humanities and Social Sciences) in Beijing. Our school set up a branch meeting. President Professor Yang Dan, Director Tao Jiajun of the Scientific Research Office, Executive Dean Zhang Xiaohui of School of Chinese Language and Literature, Award-winning teachers Professor Shi Yuntao and Professor Han Zhenhua all attended the online video meeting.

Minister Chen Baosheng and Vice Minister Weng Tiehui of the Ministry of Education attended the main conference hall in Beijing and delivered important speeches. Minister Chen Baosheng fully affirmed the outstanding contribution of humanities and social science research in universities to scientific and technological progress and social development, and the important role of the construction of philosophy and social science system with Chinese characteristics. They also comprehensively arranged the work of promoting the high-quality development of philosophy and social science in universities in the new development stage. Minister Chen stressed the need to further strengthen the armed theory, focus on the major needs of the country, adhere to the principle of moral education, focus on the government for the people and vigorously carry out scientific innovation.

The Ministry of Education's Outstanding Achievement Award for Humanities and Social Sciences is evaluated every three years. It is an important measure for the Ministry of Education to recognize and reward the outstanding achievements of philosophy and social science work in colleges and universities throughout the country, to encourage scientific research workers to study rigorously, to innovate and to forge fine products, and to promote the prosperity and development of philosophy and social sciences in colleges and universities. Since its first establishment in 1995, this award has been the most credible and influential award in the field of humanities and social sciences in China. A total of 1539 awards were selected to fully demonstrate the historic achievements of philosophy and social science in colleges and universities since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

Studies on Foreign Civilizations in the Han Dynasty of Professor Shi Yuntao of Chinese College won the third prize in the works category. Professor Han Zhenhua's Mencius in the West--Western Studies on Mencius and Its Relevance to the Construction of Contemporary Confucian Ethics won the Youth Achievement Award. Professor Shi Yuntao's  Studies on Foreign Civilizations in the Han Dynasty absorbed the previous research results fully to made new progress in the early studies on Sino-foreign transportation and cultural communications. He reviewed the historical documents of the Han Dynasty, captured and collected the information and materials of the transportation and cultural communications between China and foreign countries, studied the introduction and influence of the foreign civilizations in the Han Dynasty systematically to provide a complete and reliable list of the foreign civilizations in the Han Dynasty. At the same time, he tried to use the newly discovered historical materials to make up for the shortcomings of the past research in possible and to open up new research fields. Using an interdisciplinary perspective and a global view of history, the professor probed deeply into the cultural significance of foreign civilizations in the Han Dynasty. Professor Han Zhenhua's Mencius in the West--Western Studies on Mencius and Its Relevance to the Construction of Contemporary Confucian Ethics  comprehensively inspected the translation and research of the Confucian classic Mencius in the West since modern times, analyzed and "decoded" its interpretation intention and reasons for correct reading and misunderstanding, and discussed the two-way interaction between "Western Learning" and "Western Mencius Research" in Europe and America, as well as "Western Mencius Research" and "Chinese"

It is the first time that teachers of School of Chinese Language and Literature have won such awards presented by the Ministry of Education, which shows the scientific research strength of Chinese discipline of BFSU and will further encourage and spur teachers of our college to be determined to innovate and pursue excellence, and make new and greater contributions to promoting the scientific research of our college to a new level.
